Tour Itinerary

DAY 01: Arequipa: City Tour Campina, Yanahuara, Paucarpata, Sabandia

A.M . Reception and transfer to hotel. Combined tour includes the "white city" and its green surroundings to appreciate the beauty of the countryside. The tour includes: Mirador de Yanahuara, two miles from downtown, in the district of Yanahuara. Next we travel by narrow streets, the main square and church (1,750). Paucarpata, 7 kms. of the center, there are Inca terraces. Sabandia, 10 kms. of the city, amidst the countryside dominated by volcanoes, Chachani Misti and Pichupichu, this town retains an old mill (1.662) that works with the strength of a ditch. Huasacache, town to the riverside Socabaya, where is located the Founder's Mansion, the building of XVIII century. Monasterio de Santa Catalina, with an area of over 20,000 square meters, was founded in 1.579 and remained closed until 1.970. Return to the hotel.

DAY 02: Convent of San Francisco / Thermal baths of Yura

Breakfast. Visit to the Franciscan convent of La Recoleta, founded in 1.648, was opened to the public until 1978. It presents different styles ranging from Romanesque to neo-Gothic, because of its various reconstructions (the latest data, 1940). Four cloisters and convent up the eleven rooms. There are three museums on the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Natural History Museum and the Museum of Religious Art. It also features an art gallery with paintings from the Cuzco and Arequipa school and a valuable library with about 20 thousand volumes, maps and ancient documents. Visit the thermal baths of Yura, located 30 kilometers from the city. Its waters come from inside the volcano Chachani. Afternoon return to hotel
